Maik Guo, also known as Animenz, is a classically trained pianist well known for his virtuosic performance and transcription of Japanese animation (anime) music. With more than 400,000 subscribers and over 45 million views on his YouTube channel, and more than 700,000 fans on Facebook, Maik’s unique renditions of popular anime tracks, marked with his distinctive style of variations, has gained substantial following on the internet.

Maik is an ardent fan of Japanese animation. His journey in transcribing and performing anime music began in 2009, when he wanted to play music from the anime “Chobits” but could not find the sheet music online. He started a blog to share his transcriptions and the Animenz YouTube channel in 2010 to share performance videos with fellow anime fans and music lovers. Since then, he has amassed a staunch online following, and has performed internationally to acclaim. Maik has held an Asia Tour in 2014, and included performances in Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore. He is now working on his debut album, which will be released this year.
