New Series of Sailor Moon Coming in 2013

20th anniversary Sailor Moon logoTo commemorate the 20th anniversary of Sailor Moon, a new anime series of Sailor Moon will be released in Summer 2013.

20 years have passed since the mega-hit manga series “Sailor Moon” by Naoko Takeuchi was born. Since its first appearance in February 1992, the manga series have been adapted into a various forms of media, including anime, theatrical performances, live-action drama, and video games; resulting in its recognition as a social phenomenon at the peak of its popularity.

To commemorate this 20th year anniversary, an event was held on July 6 at Nicofarre in Roppongi, Tokyo, featuring guests Kotono Mitsuishi (voice of Sailor Moon/Usagi Tsukino), Toru Furuya (voice of Tuxedo Mask/Mamoru Chiba), and Fumio Osano (editor in charge of the manga series by Naoko Takeuchi). There was an announcement during the event that there will be a new animated series for Sailor Moon to come in Summer of 2013, which they aim to release simultaneously worldwide. The theme song will be performed by Momoiro Clover ZThe two voice actors have expressed deep interest and hopes to be involved with the upcoming new series.

Also in recognition for this memorable milestone, Anime Revolution 2012 will be hosting some of the voice casts from the English-dubbed version of Sailor Moon anime series, and they will make an appearance during the Sailor Moon Anniversary Special Panel.
