Ano Hi Mita Hana No Namae O Bokutachi Wa Mada Shiranai, also colloquially known as Ano Hana is a tale that depicts the interwoven lives of six friends who continually struggle with the inner demons of their shared past. Over the natural course of time, the bond of friendship in this close-knit group of children has inevitably diminished with each individual travelling along his or her own path, save for one of its members: Jinta, a hikikomori and the main protagonist. As ex-leader of the now-defunct “Super Peace Busters”, Jinta now spends his days dwelling unproductively at home, plagued by the incarnation of his deceased childhood friend and former “Super Peace Busters” member, Menma. As the embodiment of his stress and trauma, Menma has returned to ask for her wish to be granted. Now the question remains: Will Jinta muster up the strength to reunite the members of the “Super Peace Busters” in order to fulfill Menma’s wish?

The magic of this series is in its nostalgic portrayals of hallmark childhood antics, which hit many viewers hard at home. A stellar job was accomplished in the personification of the characters as they closely reflect an aura of reality. This series will reach the pinnacle of emotional tension as the plot progresses, so steel yourself or else you may potentially be reduced to many volumes of tears. And once again, A-1 Pictures does not fail to provide top tier animation in this masterful animé series.
